Jayda face

After my Tiffy left us in 1994, it felt like there was something missing in my house. The missing piece turned out to be Jayda - a big, black bundle of love who quickly won over all of our hearts!

Jayda doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to Tiffy in any way, but she often reminds me of my Sally - the two girls had a very special friendship and Jayda played a big part in making Sally's final years the happiest two years of her life.

I jokingly call Jayda my "made to order" Sheltie - these excerpts from note which I sent to her breeder BEFORE I EVER MET HER, describe her to a "T"!

"... I am "starting" to shop around for another dog, so I thought I'd put out word about what I'm looking for in case something comes to mind... I'd like another girl this time ...

THE single most important thing on my list is the "fit" with everyone else here. I simply can't bring in a dog who will make Sally miserable and at 13 I won't ask her to take a year or more to adjust like she did with Bryce ...

The perfect girl is a "nice" girl, a "good" girl. One with a lovely temperament, who is sweet and biddable to humans, appropriate and polite with other dogs. Her mamma taught her manners and she respects her elders and can take "no" for an answer when necessary. She would be fun loving and active, with a sense of humor, love to move... A nice sound structure, well proportioned (though a little high on leg or longer bodied is fine) ... Confident, but not bossy. Compliant but not a "wuss". Has an "on" switch" and an "off" switch...

I could see myself getting a tri, but I'm not at all fussy...

... I'm not at all in a hurry, but if you happen to run across one who's available and fitting that description ..."

Jayda is all that and more - a joy to live with and train, I'm thoroughly enjoying our journey together!
