About Me

Professional - In a nutshell, many years experience in various aspects of corporate Information Technology! I began as an application programmer/analyst, developing and enhancing in-house software for Publishing, Manufacturing and Financial companies, serving as team/project leader on numerous occasions. I also spent a number of years as a Unix systems administrator for several major financial institutions, where I used my programming skills to develop systems management solutions. Somewhere in the mid 1990's, I first started writing HTML, doing web pages for department intranets.

I am currently working as an independent consultant and web developer/designer, specializing in reasonably-priced custom work for small businesses, organizations, and individuals. I am also a C/Java programmer and occasionally do custom Palm/OS applications. And, I currently host the "expert guide" to Pets and Animal Care on PalmSource.com!

For information on affordable custom web design and development and more, see my business site - Enlytend Solutions LLC.

And, don't forget to visit my Computer Tips page!

Dog Training - My favorite way to spend my spare time! I've been involved with competitive obedience since 1992 and with agility since 1994. Bryce and I have also dabbled in herding. Of the three, agility is definitely my favorite! I compete in AKC, USDAA and NADAC and am an instructor for my local agility club.

I became a convert to "clicker training" and positive, science-based training in general in 1994 after my oldest dog seriously injured her neck in a freak household accident (NOT training related). She was a rescue with a lot of behavioral issues, and I was completely blown away by how rapidly and successfully I was able to resolve many of them by applying these methods!

Oh, and I also train my cats...

An entire section of this site is devoted to training and agility.

I was reading books before I was in Kindergarten. I was reading music before I was reading books.
I'm one of the laziest people on earth. Lazy people make great programmers because we're Highly Motivated to make machines do our work for us.
I once broke a rib vacuuming. Housework is dangerous! (PS - I LOVE my Roomba!)
I taught one of my dogs to sing. We sing together in traffic on the way home from shows. It amuses people in adjacent cars. She sings better than I do.
